How do you even put into words the impact of a disease like Alzheimer's? How do you prepare for what is to come? What do you tell people, how do you tell them? How do you respond to the changes in your loved one?
Our family, like way too many others, has been hit by this disease. Hit with the uncertainty, the what next, the what can we do? And like those other families we search for answers to questions that may not have any answers, YET!
In participating in this walk we are showing our support to people living with Alzheimer's and the people caring for them. We are showing our support for the people working tirelessly to find a cure. We are showing ourselves support as we navigate our family's new terrain, by standing with others that are part of this community.
Whether we raise $1 or $1,000,000, the impact of this diagnosis has already rippled through our world. It has made us hyper aware of the moments that have, and will be lost. Our wish is for effects of Alzheimer's to be slowed, reversible, and ultimately curable. We may or may not see the benefits directly, but we have hope for the future.
So for now we do what we can. We show our love and support to Trudy like she has always done as a wife, mother, grandmother and friend. We show our love and support to her husband and children as the navigation of this comes into view. And most importantly, we don't give up, TEAM RAVINS fights.
