My Mom, Beverly lived with for over 10 years. We were lucky that throughout the journey she kept her happy and loving attitude towards life. She loved to sing and dance. She was infectious in her joy and often had others joining in with her. It wasn't until near the very end that she became wheelchair bound and withdrawn.
My Mother-in-law, Joyce was only diagnosed officially for a little over a year. Like she was very loving and giving. Joyce loved taking trips and visiting past memories of families and St. Augustine. I feel blessed that toward the end she didn't know me as her daughter-in-law but referred to me as her friend!
Both these women's lives were cut short by this disease. Too many people lose their loved ones mentally well before their physical bodies give up. Please join us in the fight to end this disease!
