Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical.
I’m walking in memory of my grandmother, Alberta Saville. Before Alzheimer’s, my Gaga was always perfectly put together. Always dressed to the nines. She was a business owner who successfully raised 2 sons after her husband died. In her retirement years, she took care of the elderly by helping them find doctors, grocery assistance and other life needs. Watching her completely change and slowly die for a decade because of this terrible disease was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through.
I am walking in honor of my best friend’s mother, Eloise Crutchfield, who is currently suffering with Alzheimer’s. Miss Eloise was my second momma. Before Alzheimer’s, she was a force to be reckoned with. She too was always well put together and I always admired her style. She raised 3 children and helped her husband run a successful business. She was always there for my family and others during trying times. She was a true best friend to my mother as well! Her daughter and sons are doing their best to keep her comfortable at home and to take care of her every need.
