I lost my mom, Mildred Rose Shepherd, to Alzheimer’s disease on March 3, 2003. She lived a wonderful life—married for more than 30 years, raising five children, and filling her days with family, friends, and laughter. Mom was one of the most intelligent and strong-willed people I’ve ever known, which made it especially painful to watch Alzheimer’s slowly steal the sharp mind and fierce spirit that defined her. While my mom’s story is deeply personal, it is also one shared by far too many families.
On September 27th, I will be participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s in Washington, DC, to raise awareness and funds for the fight against this devastating disease. These funds provide 24/7 care and support, give families the information they need, and accelerate critical research toward treatment and prevention.
Families facing Alzheimer’s and other dementias need us—and with your help, we can be there for them. Please consider making a donation or joining Team Danzutti to start your own fundraising efforts.
Together, we can honor the memories of those we’ve lost, support those still fighting, and move closer to ending Alzheimer’s once and for all.
Thank you for your support!
