This year, I am walking with my team for my mom, Diane. As many of you know, I lost her to dementia in November 2022; she was 91 years old. She was my teacher, my mentor, and I still miss her so much. I miss hearing her laugh, the way she smiled, her wonderful eggplant lasagna, her amazing talent while playing on our Yamaha upright piano...the list is endless.
I am walking for her, and all those suffering from dementia. Mom always had a passion for music; her love of it inspired me to learn to play piano. I then focused on singing - in groups, musicals, and weddings. I loved listening to her play. I later became a Music Together instructor; taught music in preschool and loved it. I even sang to my son from the time he was in utero and throughout his young life. He picked up the saxophone in fourth grade and decided to play; ultimately, he earned his Masters degree in Music. She had a special connection with music as a former pianist. One visit, my aunt and I sang, "You Are My Sunshine" and she stopped and just listened. We had reached her, if only for a few minutes.
Please join me and my team in donating to this wonderful organization - through your support, we can find a cure for this awful disease. Anything you can spare would be helpful. Mom and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
