My father, a Navy veteran--a man who proudly served, who cared deeply for his family, as well as for his fellow veterans--passed away a little over a year after being diagnosed with Alzheimer's.
Alzheimers affects 6.2 million Americans and 450,000+ veterans. It is the sixth leading cause of death, and has no medicine, treatment, or cure.
I've seen, firsthand, what this terrible disease does to those we love. No one should have to endure that. There needs to be a cure, a medicine, a treatment, and I will continue walking until there is one.
