News and Announcements

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® will be different this year. Although communities can’t join together for a large in-person event due to the pandemic, we encourage you to still walk in your neighborhoods. We encourage you to join the world’s largest fundraiser to fight the disease, which, this year, will take place everywhere.

It’s important to clearly communicate to your team and those that will join you that Walk is not taking a year off or going completely virtual. While some of the Walk-day experience will be held online, we will not  say that Walk is virtual this year, as it suggests we are not walking everywhere in our communities.

To assist you in understanding these changes, we’ve compiled new messaging developed specifically for this year’s event.

2020 event description

This year, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is everywhere — on every sidewalk, trail and track. And although the world may look a little different right now, one thing hasn’t changed: our commitment to the fight against Alzheimer’s.

  • When you register you will be sent two flags to carry in replacement of the Promise Garden Flowers
  • If you want your walk shirt prior to the walk, you need to have at least $100 on your walk account (4) wks prior to the walk date.
  • Be sure to register your shirt size as the shirts will be mailed to you directly once you have raised $100.
  • As you hit the various fund raising levels you will be mailed the additional thank you incentives.
  • Be sure to register all who will be walking with you. Even the wee ones.
  • There will be a drive by Promise Garden that you can see. It is there only for awareness of the Walk day and we'd love to have you drive past and give us a honk. We are not handing out flowers this year.
  • (The flags you will be mailed replace the flowers this year.)

Your health and safety are our top priorities. Walk to End Alzheimer's won't be a large in-person gathering this year — instead, we invite you to walk in your neighborhood in small teams* of friends and family while others in your community do the same. Because we’re all walking and fundraising for the same thing: a world without Alzheimer’s and all other dementia.

*All participants should follow CDC guidelines and local health recommendations when deciding to walk with those outside of their household.

Thank you for your support in raising awareness for the need to find a CURE for Alzheimer's!!
