Thank you to our 2019 champions, teams, walkers, donors and sponsors! Registration is closed, but fundraising is still open!
All donations made through the end of the year will benefit the 2019 Walk.
We are just days away from this year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s event on Oct 26 in New Town, and I wanted to share a few logistics with you:
Weather The Walk will take place rain or shine.
Walk location We will gather at the gazebo on Main Street in New Town, located at 5150 Main Street.
Parking Plenty of free parking is available in the parking lots behind American Family Fitness and Blaze Pizza.
Registration Online registration will close at 9:00 AM on Friday, October 25. Online registration will re-open Oct 26 at 6:00 AM, and people can register onsite the day of the Walk. Onsite registration opens at 8:30 AM.
Check-In All participants – whether you are registered or not - must check in at the Registration tent to receive your wristband for the Promise Garden.
Donations Donations can be turned in at the Registration tent. Checks should be made out to the Alzheimer’s Association. If you are dividing a donation up between team members, be sure to let us know how much money each team member should be credited.
T-shirts Registered individuals who have raised $100 or more are eligible to receive a Walk T-shirt. If your team captain has not already picked up T-shirts, or if you are walking as an individual, go to the Registration tent where you will be given a ticket to turn in to collect your T-shirt.
Promise Garden Flowers Every registered walker will receive a Promise Garden flower. Check-in at the Registration tent to receive your wristband. Show your wristband at the Promise Garden to pick up your flower. The different flower colors represent our relationship to Alzheimer’s disease:
- Blue – I have Alzheimer’s disease
- Yellow – I am caring for someone with Alzheimer’s disease
- Purple – I have lost someone to Alzheimer’s disease
- Orange – I am an advocate for those with Alzheimer’s disease
Please note: Participants are limited to one flower each, so pick the color which best represents your relation to the cause.
Team Photos will be taken in front of the WTEA backdrop located behind the gazebo. Please share your photos on social media and use the hashtags #Walk2EndAlz and #ShowYourPurple.
Walk Route The Walk begins at the gazebo on Main Street and will take participants through the residential areas of New Town. Volunteers will be stationed along the route to direct you. Both a 1 mile and a 3 mile option are available.
Opening Ceremony begins at 9:40 AM.
Dine & Donate Please visit one of the restaurants in New Town participating in a dine and donate fundraiser on Walk Day. Blaze Pizza and Cogan’s Deli & Sports Pub will be donating 20% to the Alzheimer’s Association while Center Street Grill and Paul’s Deli & Restaurant will be donating 10% to the Alzheimer’s Association.
