Alzheimer's ranks 6th on top ten list of causes of death for South Carolinians
A sample of recent headlines about this terrible disease shows that a lot research activity is underway to find a cause and cure. However neither has been identified, yet. More research is needed and more money is necessary to fund the research.

“You don't only avoid holes in your teeth by keeping good oral hygiene, researchers at the University of Bergen have discovered a clear connection between gum disease and Alzheimer´s disease.” https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/06/190603102549.htm
“In a pilot study of 14 older adults with mild cognitive problems suggestive of early Alzheimer's disease, Johns Hopkins Medicine researchers report that a high-fat, low-carbohydrate diet may improve brain function and memory.”

“People who report a declining quality of sleep as they age from their 50s to their 60s have more protein tangles in their brain, putting them at higher risk of developing Alzheimer's disease later in life, according to a new study by psychologists at the University of California, Berkeley.”

But more work and research is necessary.
That’s why I’m fundraising for my fifth year for the Alzheimer's Association through A Ride to Remember. Over the course of three days, I will ride with over 300 cyclist from Simpsonville, SC to Mount Pleasant SC, 250 miles across South Carolina in the heat of July. To add extra suffering a few of us will add a fourth day at the beginning and start in North Carolina, to add another 80 miles to the total. Riding the bike is the easy part!
I need your help to support this cause. All funds I raise will directly support the efforts of the world’s leading voluntary health organization in Alzheimer’s care, support and research.
Will you consider making a donation? It's easy to give online by opening the following link below. Thank you in advance for your generosity. The end of Alzheimer’s starts with us!
Thank you so much!
