My husband lost his grandmother to Alzheimer’s in 2007 she would be up all night talking to herself about years past needed 24 hour care so we all took turns staying up with her. I always remember thinking to myself, I wish I had known her before she had Alzheimer’s because she was a great woman even when she did. I lost my Nana in January. The thing that stuck with me the most after her death was when I heard that she thought Poppy was an intruder in their home. They were married for 60 years and I can not think of anything sadder than sharing a lifetime with someone only to one day think they’re a stranger, forgetting the life and memories you shared together. I am passionate about finding a cure for this disease in hopes that one day my daughter doesn't ever have to go through losing a loved one to Alzheimer’s.
By participating in this event, I've committed to raising awareness and funds to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association®.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's disease and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk and we must come together to change the course of this disease.
Please support my efforts by making a donation. All funds raised benefit the Alzheimer's Association and its work to enhance care and support programs and advance research toward methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's disease. Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer’s disease!
