Shelley passed away surrounded by family in her St. Paul home on February 11, 2024. She was many things - a cherished wife, mother, sister and aunt, a beloved friend, a faithful and gracious leader at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and a caring nurse and clinic director.
Shelley grew up in Forest Lake and received her nursing degree from the College of St. Scholastica. She married her husband Bill in 1978 and lived in North Dakota and Colorado before moving home to Minnesota where they welcomed daughter Anna in 1991. Shelley worked as a nurse for several years before managing clinics for Park Nicollet and Allina Health. Shelley enjoyed organizing and cooking for holiday gatherings and parties, reading, gardening, hiking, picnics, boating and spending time with families and friends. She loved to travel and her family will treasure memories of adventures with her around the globe.
Shelley is now at peace following an eight year struggle with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia. While her disease dimmed her light, her personality continued to shine through the clouds and we are grateful for the smiles, laughter and warm embraces she shared with us. We are hopeful gifts to the Alzheimer’s Association will provide resources and comfort to other families navigating similar heartbreak and fund research to end aphasia and dementia.
Her funeral will be at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 700 Snelling Ave S, St Paul, MN 55116 on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation at 10:00 a.m.
