We have teams and participants!

Dear US Chess Friends,

This year, we invite any US Chess affiliate local, state, scholastic, or college to use chess to support research and local activities for Alzheimer’s Disease. Many of us have watched loved ones or friends travel an Alzheimer’s or a related dementia journey and know how isolating and challenging it can be for both individuals and caregivers.

A global leader in Alzheimer’s and all other dementia research, the Alzheimer’s Association is the world’s largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research. Its active commitments to accelerate research total more than $235 million, and they are powering 654 best-of-field projects in 39 countries.

The reason a US Chess/Alzheimer’s Association partnership is special is that many have noted that playing cognitive games (such as chess) can be important tools for maintaining good brain health at any age. Having a chess event to support this worthwhile cause and introducing new people to the game is a win-win for all. US Chess encourages your club or affiliate to show your support for the Alzheimer’s Association by taking part in the global Longest Day movement. You can organize a tournament, a simultaneous exhibition, or some other chess-related activity and help support the Alzheimer’s Association. Funds raised by you support your local chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association, which provides local assistance and support to individuals and caregivers in your community.

Please join us today to help US Chess and the Alzheimer’s Association bring awareness and research to fight this devastating illness. Thank you for being part of our Longest Day team!

Sincerely,

Carol B. Meyer
