Why We Walk: More than 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s and this number is projected to rise to nearly 14 million by 2050. Additionally, 16 million Americans serve as unpaid caregivers for people with Alzheimer’s or other dementias.
We’re proud to join forces with the Alzheimer’s Association to help to create a future free of Alzheimer’s and other dementias and serve as National Presenting Sponsor of the Walk to End Alzheimer’s events across the country.
Supporting Alzheimer’s and other dementia patients and their caregivers is more important now than ever as we battle the COVID-19 pandemic. Dementia-related behaviors, increased age and common health conditions that often accompany dementia may increase risk, as people with Alzheimer's and other dementia may forget to wash their hands or take other recommended precautions to prevent illness. In addition, diseases like COVID-19 and the flu may worsen cognitive impairment due to dementia.
You can join us in supporting Alzheimer’s patients and their families by participating in a Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Join a CVS Health team in your local community, or create one! By walking together wherever we are we can have a big collective impact to advance research and support care for both patients and caregivers and ultimately create a future free of Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
