As caregivers, we know Alzheimer's on a level that even some doctors have a hard time understanding. The main undercurrent in the caregiving community is a feeling of loneliness; that we are in this alone. Our goal at Alzheimer's Caregivers Support (or online support group forum found on Facebook), is to assure people and remind them that from diagnosis to the very end, and even thereafter, NONE of us are alone in this battle.

One of our members first got involved with the Alzheimer's Association and activism through participating in The Longest Day, so we were beyond honored when we were given the opportunity to prove there is strength in numbers, and so Alzheimer's Caregivers United was born.

We are a large group of people, all creeds, ages, race, and sex, who have committed to coming together as one with one primary purpose: to further the exposure and awareness of Alzheimer's disease and other dementia related illnesses. We are mainly strangers to each other, who over time have become family, helping each other through trying times, sharing stories of happier times, of sad and scary times, and always implying our underlying theme; that we are NOT alone, and that we believe together, we can make a difference.

We are honored to have the opportunity to have our voices heard and to be seen through our actions we put into raising funds for and awareness of The Longest Day. As we all know, who've been there, every day with Alzheimer's disease feels like The Longest Day of your life, for both caregiver and the diagnosed. We want to make a difference. We want to raise funds to help further the research behind the fight against Alzheimer's, and we want every caregiver out there to know, they are not alone. They are not forgotten; nor are their loved ones.
