Families facing Alzheimer’s and dementia is very personal to me. My Grandmother, Great Uncle, Uncle and had dementia and my Mom had Alzheimers. Over the 9 year period caring for her I spent almost $1M on her care. I actually moved into the nursing home for the last several months of her life. This disease is so debilitating. Family members lose their loved ones many years before their bodies actually die. The toll it takes on families and caregivers is devastating.
Did you know that more people die from Alzheimers and dementia than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. Over 6 million people in the US are suffering from this currently. In 2022, dementia and Alzheimers will cost the US over $321 billion dollars and they expect by 2050 it will top $1M.
I was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimers at 57 years old in 2018. Unfortunately, I do not qualify for any experimental treatments because I have a pacemaker that is not MRI compatible. Currently, there are no cures or treatments on the horizon to slow down the progression of the disease. Please help me find a cure in my lifetime.
Thank you for helping advance Alzheimer's support, care and research.
