Johanna Philippine Benjamins-Halkema, beloved wife, mother of seven, grandmother of eight, great grandmother of six and great great grandmother of one, passed away peacefully on 11 October 2019 after a long fight with Alzheimer's.
According to the National Institute of Health, Alzheimer’s disease is currently ranked as the sixth leading cause of death in the United States, but recent estimates indicate that the disorder may rank third, just behind heart disease and cancer, as a cause of death for older people.
In honor of Johanna's fighting spirit we appreciate your donation to help in the fight to find a cure for this insidious, irreversible, progressive disease that slowly destroys memory, thinking skills and, eventually, the ability to carry out the simplest tasks.
