This year I walk for my family which has had to go on with life without a husband, Dad, Papa, and Papa G(reat). We all know what it's like to lose someone years before their heart ceases beating. We know because we saw his brain, taken over by Alzheimer's disease, slowly stop functioning. We don't want anyone to have to experience that, and we know that's the work of the Alzheimer's Association. The money raised by the Walk to End Alzheimer's funds essential research, which will ultimately lead to a cure. We know this because it has already led to viable treatments that actually slow the progression of this disease. Perhaps, for now, even more important, the funds also support families, and caregivers of those living with Alzheimer's; offering support groups, education, and respite.
