My grandma, Gloria, was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. She just turned 90 this spring. She's taken a downward turn in the weeks since I've seen her. But before this, she was a vibrant, feisty lady. Born in New York City, she moved to West Virginia 15 years ago. My mom is her full time care giver now. The last time I saw her I told her to please never forget me. She said, 'how could I ever forget you?' But I know she will, even if she doesn't know. The brain is tricky. That's why it's been hard to find a cure for this. But one day there will be. And fundraising is a pathway to make that a reality.
I walk for my grandma Gloria and my Mawmaw Ida, who we've already lost.
