I am
Running
to fight Alzheimer's

My Story
Starting March 14, 2021, Lee Thornquist is running 1,100+ miles around Lake Michigan in 36 days to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association. This means he will average 31 miles a day, with no days off.
None of us truly know how our life will unfold. We can plan all we want, take all the "right" actions, manage risk and so much more, yet we could die in a moment's notice. Or a global pandemic could change the course of everything we thought we knew.
One of the ways many peoples' lives change is when they are diagnosed with Alzheimer's dementia. Alzheimer's is a degenerative brain disease that only takes away. It takes memories, mental clarity, personality, emotions, energy, abilities, and much of what we consider makes us human.
Alzheimer's slowly took my Grandma, Harriet, from our family during a 13 year battle. Grandma passed away in September 2020 and while her battle was not the situation anyone envisioned, she still managed to spread joy to everyone she knew and teach us about the wonders and complexities of life.
This run is to honor her incredible life and raise money to help the 5+ million other Americans (and 50 million people globally) affected by the disease.
Want to join me in supporting a good cause? Your contribution will make an impact, whether you donate $5 or $500. Every little bit helps. Thank you for your support.
