By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® in D.C. on September 27th, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.
I am walking in memory of my friend and mentor Professor Charles J. Ogletree and my mother Sarah Harris Jordan. Our team -- current and former DC Public Defender Service ("PDS") employees -- is called "Tree's Champions of Liberty." Charles Ogletree was the Deputy Director at PDS, a professor emeritus at Harvard Law School, and an acclaimed lawyer, author, activist and civil rights leader. But we knew him as "Tree" -- our colleague, mentor, teacher, leader and beloved friend. In 2016 Tree announced that he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. With the loving care and and support of his wife Pam, Tree battled Alzheimer's with courage and dignity until he passed on August 4, 2023.
Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
