Alzheimer's is a cause that is, unfortunately, close to my heart. My dad was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimer's at age 58 and fought a long, hard battle with it for 13 years.
Through those years, I was lucky enough to make a lot of memories with him that will last me a lifetime.
My wife and I had the privilege of caring for him throughout several of his years with the disease. While I wouldn't trade that time for anything, it was also gut-wrenching watching the man I grew up admiring and loving so much slowly deteriorate into someone who I didn't even recognize.
This past December, just a few days after his 71st birthday, my dad's battle ended and he became whole again. I miss him immensely, but I am grateful that he is no longer trapped in a body and mind that aren't his own.
I will be walking with loved ones this fall to raise awareness for Alzheimer's and funds for research towards ending this horrible disease. My hope is that you will join me in fighting for a world without Alzheimer's. Any donation is welcomed and so appreciated.
