Team Bayle has been going strong for 12 years in honor of my beautiful Mother, Emily Bayle, who lived with Alzheimer's for too many years. Sadly, we lost Mom "Gammy" way too soon, almost 11 years ago. This year we are walking again in her memory.
As you know, I am one of four Bayle girls. Chances are one or more of us will end up in a world full of friends and family we don't recognize. If and when that does happen, we hope there will be more answers -- and more hopefully -- a cure to help us get through it as a family.
They call Alzheimer's a disease. Mom didn't have a disease. She was never sick or contagious. She just lived in her own world, oblivious to what was happening to her mind.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer's research, care and support. Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's starts with you.
Warm regards,
Aimee
