On Saturday, October 18, I will be participating in my 33rd Walk to End Alzheimer’s in San Francisco. On this day, I walk in memory of my mother-in-law, Grace Ahmadjian, and will raise funds to find a cure and support those battling this devastating disease.
As many of you know, Grace starting showing signs of Alzheimer’s disease at age 54 and lived until she was 78 years old. She lost her identity and having relationships with her family and friends. We can’t bring her back, but we can make a difference by spreading awareness and providing donations to increase research funding and treatment.
The Alzheimer’s Association is the largest non-profit funder of Alzheimer’s research. They currently invest $430 M in over 1,150 active “best of field” projects in 57 countries, spanning six continents. Alzheimer’s research is the new area of treatment. Here are latest impacts:
2023
- Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) expanded coverage of PET imaging for diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease.
- Donanemab received traditional approval as a treatment for early Alzheimer's from the FDA. It is the first traditionally approved treatment that addresses the underlying biology of Alzheimer's and changes the course of the disease in a meaningful way for people in the early stages.
Will you help me reach my fundraising goal of $3,500 by making a donation today? Visit my personal fundraising page by following the link below to make a secure, tax-deductible donation or download and print the paper form on my page to mail in with a check. All donations benefit the Alzheimer's Association – and every dollar makes a difference in this fight. I am so grateful to those of you who have been so faithful over the past many years.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease!
Thank you so much for your support.
