Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
I walk in honor of my mother, Mary Jane Greenland, who lives with dementia. I walk for my father Frank, who's trying to navigate watching his wife of 71 years struggle. I walk with and for my siblings, who share this journey with her and with each other. I walk for the memory of my grandmother, my mom's mom, who also faced dementia in her final years. I walk knowing that a lot of people I know and love have faced this same journey with their loved ones.
This picture is from my wedding. It's the last time my entire family celebrated together in a public setting. I live now for the moments that my mom's smile still comes out.
I walk for her, with the hope that breakthroughs can ease the journey of those afflicted in the future. I hope you'll consider a contribution to aid in the fight to combat Alzheimers.
