Last year, I embarked on a journey that changed my perspective on compassion, resilience, and the power of community. Working with individuals affected by Alzheimer’s and dementia was more than just service—it was a deeply moving experience that taught me the true meaning of patience, love, and human connection.
Every day brought new challenges, but also unexpected moments of joy. There were days when a simple smile or a familiar song brought clarity to someone who had been lost in confusion. There were conversations that might have been fleeting, but in those moments, they meant everything. I witnessed families navigating the heartbreak of watching their loved one's fade, but I also saw the incredible strength they carried with them.
Beyond the daily work, I took my passion a step further by joining the fight to raise funds for Alzheimer’s research and support. Organizing events, rallying community members, and seeing the generosity of so many reinforced my belief that together, we can make a difference. The energy at fundraising walks, the heartfelt conversations with donors, and the stories shared by caregivers all fueled my determination to continue advocating for those who can no longer advocate for themselves.
This journey was not just about service—it was about being part of something greater. It was about honoring the memories of those who have lost their voices and ensuring a brighter future for those who still have stories to tell. And as I step into another year of raising awareness and offering support, I do so with even more passion, gratitude, and hope.
Because until there is a cure, there is work to be done. And I am honored to be a part of it.
