Why I Ride: The personal experiences of friends and colleagues who have been impacted by Alzheimer’s inspire me to do what I can to drive breakthroughs for the treatment of this terrible disease.
That’s why, after a long time away from competitive cycling, I decided to get back on the bike on June 1, 2024, to raise much needed funds for the Alzheimer's Association.
Right now, there's no shortage of ideas in Alzheimer’s research — only dollars. Which is why I respectfully ask for your support. I am participating on the Ride to End ALZ®, a fully-supported, premier cycling event that supports the Alzheimer’s Association’s efforts to discover methods of treatment and prevention for Alzheimer’s disease.
This year’s New England ride starts and finishes in Hampton Beach, NH, my childhood hometown. The 100-mile route dips into Massachusetts including through the beautiful City of Newburyport.
To underscore my commitment to the cause I personally matched contributions 100% dollar-for-dollar to $10,000.
I never quit a worthy challenge. I ride to honor all who suffer from Alzheimer's, for their loved ones and, for family, friends, and colleagues who support me.
Thank you,
Steve
