Walk to End Alzheimer’s is an event that I have been passionate about since my maternal grandmother Ginny’s diagnosis back in 2007.
When we lost her in 2010 to this disease, it was followed by the diagnosis of my paternal grandmother Edna, who succumbed to complications in 2020. Most recently, Janet my maternal aunt, was diagnosed with onset dementia with associated complication and sadly passed this month. Once again this disease hits close to home.
Over the past few years, we watched the progression of my father-in-law Frank and his continuing battle with Alzheimer's and the challenges that arise almost daily.
In 2023 - we formed "Frankie and the Chevelles" - loving named after Frank's beloved 1971 Chevelle Malibu he cherished dearly. Our inaugural year of "Frankie and the Chevelles", we raised close to $15,000 for the Walk to End Alz Rochester. 2024 we raised just shy of our $10,000 goal... but this year for 2025 we have a lofty but attainable goal of $16,000 to hit!
Won’t you join me in fighting against ALZ - helping those who battle this disease and also support those who care for their loved ones subjected to Alzheimer’s?
A cure is within reach…. and every little bit helps get us one day to a life without Alzheimer’s!
