I’m participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s in honor of two incredible women who shaped my life—my Grandma Rose White and my Grandma Shirley Reinecker. Both of them were strong, loving, and full of life, but Alzheimer’s slowly took away pieces of who they were. Watching them struggle with this disease was heartbreaking, not only because of what it took from them, but because of the toll it took on our whole family. The memories, the laughter, the stories—they deserve to be preserved, not stolen away by an illness we still can’t cure.
I walk to raise awareness, to help fund research, and to honor every family touched by Alzheimer’s. I walk because no one should have to watch someone they love slip away in this way. And I walk with hope—that one day, we’ll find a cure, and future generations will only know Alzheimer’s as a disease we overcame. Every step I take is for my grandmas, for the memories we cherish, and for the fight to protect them for others.
