Those who know me know that the Alzheimer's Association is a cause very close to my heart. They are currently providing me and my family with caretaker support, resources, education - and most of all - hope.
You see, I have no choice other than to have hope. My mom has Alzheimer’s, her sister my beloved Aunt Kathy had dementia, and their mother, my sweet nana, passed away when I was only 14 years old after a battle with Alzheimer’s. This disease has hurt me over and over and over again, and the pain has never been worse than it is today. It has been my greatest fear since I was a young girl watching my nana lose her memory and eventually her cognitive function.
This is why I have to have hope. Hope that my career and life will not be cut short by this disease like it has the women in my family before me.
The funds raised from the Walk to End Alzheimer’s is what gives me this hope. The Pittsburgh walk is even more crucial because clinical research being done right here in Pittsburgh is developing treatments - and they are working! The research lab in Pittsburgh is the #1 most funded Alzheimer’s research lab in the nation. This gives me hope.
I will keep fighting for a world without Alzheimer’s Disease, and I hope that you will join me by making a donation, joining my team, or creating a team of your own.
Thank you!
