This year's Walk looks different for me. This is the first year I am officially walking to not only honor my Uncle B, whom I've honored for the previous 9 years, but also my dear Mom-in-Law, Barb. What many people do not know is that the Alzheimer's Association's efforts support all forms of dementia research and support.
My Uncle was an extraordinary man with a wonderful sense of humor, a deep-rooted passion for those he loved, and the man who taught me more than I'd realized. He gave me a love for Florida Gators, biscuits and gravy, and playing pool with quirky rules.
My Mom-in-Law loved all sorts of movies, but mostly black and white movies from her childhood. Flying under the radar of those FBI warnings at the beginning of movies, she owned more than 1,000 titles and could tell you the actors, when it was produced, and often times the main musical score. I think one of the saddest things about her memory loss was losing those details she was gifted at retaining.
I am honored to walk in their honor in hopes of stopping this horrible family of diseases from stealing memories from beautiful people like my Uncle and Mom-in-Law.
PLEASE consider a donation to my walk. Thank you!
