Mom had an amazing life - she was second oldest of 5. She was a Wave in the US Navy, met and married her first husband - also in the Navy. Widowed w/ 3 children - she met and married her 2nd husband - a Navy pilot. Widowed again - now with 4 children - she married her 3rd husband - another Navy pilot - see a trend??? Yes - she loved a man in uniform! With Cliffy, she traveled the world and made a point to visit her children/grandchildren wherever they lived. When her eyesight started to go, so did her zest for life. We saw a steady decline in her cognitive functions and eventually moved them closer to her kids and into senior living. Eventually she was placed in memory care.
When she died, she didn't remember the three men who adored and loved her so. She didn't remember her life of travel and her love of shoes. She didn't know who I was as I sat at her bedside day in - day out until she passed.
Alzheimer's is a horrible disease. It knows no race, religion, age or social status. You can have all the money in the world - and you can't stop it. As long as I am able - and until there is a cure - I will be fundraising and participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Please donate - So here I am - once again asking for your help. Please help me reach my goal of $5000 and let me honor you, your loved ones and my mom on September 20.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease.
Thank you for joining the fight against Alzheimer's!
Warmest Regards,
Leslie
