![Dad with my kids, August 2023](../images/friendraiser_uploads/16841.87516117.custom.jpg)
I first encountered Alzheimer's disease when my paternal grandmother was diagnosed when I was in high school. Then along my medical training I encountered it more and more. My dad exhibited signs of Alzheimer's for some time before his diagnosis August 2022. I feel empowered to offer empathy due to my personal experience with Alzheimer's. I am hoping that with continued medical research we can find a cure or effective preventative treatment. Dad died April 13, 2023 peacefully in his sleep after a slow start and a steep later decline. Please donate so that we can work towards a cure for this terrible disease!
