I joined the Walk to End Alzheimer Committee
My Grandpa B lived with this disease for a LONG time. In the later stages of his life I would go and just sit at the care home with him. He was a fighter so I became a regular there and the staff nursing facilities those are some true HEROS! On my lunch I would bring him something to eat cause otherwise he would just forget to eat! He loved a Jamba Juice smoothie, lemme tell ya! haha The orange dream machines was his fav!
He would tell me some of the most outlandish stories about things I know didn't happen. Like when he said he met Hilary Clinton in the hallways at the care home. He had stories for DAYYYYS!
I would go back afterwork with a sweet treat of some kind, play him old songs he liked, asked him to share stories of things he loved to talk about which was always stuff from the military because to him it was like YESTERDAY!
The picture is of him below, is in the middle of the hallway at the hospital. He had fallen out of bed and was rushed to the hospital. That is all the info I got, so I rushed to the emergency room and the nurses at the desk go.... oh you're here for Mr. Baumann? I was like yes..... (thinking to myself what did he do now!!) and she goes, man he is a hoot! haha
This is how I found him laughing his butt off after the nurses were telling him he was too old for them! HAHA! That was my life day in and day out with this guy and that smile says it all!
Help me raise money for awareness, education and support for a dieses that affects so many people but not just the one suffering with the dieses the families that are there to support them along the way. I only WISH I knew about all the resources that were available for families like I do now!
Feel free to donate to help me reach my goal, every contribution counts & If you are local COME WALK WITH ME!!!
