First, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone who has helped support finding a cure for this disease. This year will be my 6th year walking and raising funds in the fight to find the cure for Alzheimer's as well as all other dementias!
It also marks 5 years now that my mom moved on to heaven. I wish I had so much more time with her. I catch myself wishing I had stood closer by her side in pictures, loved on her more, laughed with her more, went on walks more, sang at church with her more, had beers or wine with her more! To say that I miss her is an understatement. Everything makes me think of her; gardening, watching the sunrise on the beach...she always had the strength to keep up with me so I will continue to carry the strength that she instilled in me to help find the cure to end this horrible disease and the devastation that it causes.
This walk, each year, reminds me that I am not alone in this fight, it brings hope and community, and there sure is a lot of fight in all of us! It also reminds my dad he is not alone in it, my mom's sister that she is not alone. My heart breaks each time I hear of someone else losing a loved one to dementia. We have got to fight the good fight for all who are touched by this disease and the chaos that it can bring. I hope you will join me.
