Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2016, and life has never been the same. For the last eight years we have watched Mom decline, both mentally and physically. And yet, we know we are some of the luckier ones. Mom still knows us. She may forget other people, or events, or whether or not she ate today...but she still knows who her family is, and that she's had a life full of love.
Alzheimer's is such an ugly disease. It takes away a person's independence, and their ability to care for themselves. Alzheimer's is not the same for everyone, but is always devastating. As a part-time care giver, I see first hand the heartbreak this causes my family.
Please join me for this year's Walk To End Alzheimer's.
