Rosemary (Zimmerer) Richard, 79, of Westfield, Indiana was welcomed into heaven on April 19, 2024.
Rosie was born on March 8, 1945 to Nora (Lechner) and Mark Zimmerer in Kokomo, Indiana, where she attended Saint Patrick’s parish elementary school and St. Joseph’s High School Academy in Tipton. She was a 1967 graduate of Saint Mary’s College and received her Master of Social Work from Indiana University in 1969. She began her career as a licensed, clinical social worker and helped establish the Regional Mental Health Center of Howard Community Hospital in 1972. Her later work focused on child advocacy and group therapies at the Family Service Association of Howard County. For two decades, she offered nurturing, supportive counseling to clients who benefitted from her sincere concern and personal approach. She was in demand with clients who filled a waitlist to see her. She cheered client victories, recognized their needs and believed everyone deserved good care if they couldn't always afford it.
Rosie was unmatched in her love and welcoming of everyone. Her home was a friendly gathering place and her arms were always open for a hug. She remembered and celebrated what made people uniquely special. Her holiday decorations heightened the festivity for everyone, her table was always full of delicious food and desserts, especially her signature apple pie. Her kind and gentle demeanor shined through in every situation.
Rosie and her husband of 50 years, J. Arnold Richard, were proud parents to Eric (Rosemary) Richard, Paul (Monica) Richard, Amy (David) Krupa and Adam (Natalie) Richard. She was the proud grandmother of Alexandra, Andrew, and Olivia Richard, Kyle and Sabrina Richard and Violet and Ivy Krupa.
The celebration of Rosie's life will be on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, with visitations at Randall and Roberts Funeral Center, 1685 Westfield Road in Noblesville from 5-8 pm and Saint Patrick Catholic Church Narthex, 1204 N Armstrong Street, in Kokomo on April 25, 2024 from 10-10:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial.
