I'm walking to end Alzheimer's in honor of my amazing dad, who I lost to the disease when he was 65 years old after a decade-long battle. In this unsettling time of Covid-19, I think constantly about those living with the disease, those supporting and caring for loved ones with the disease, and those living in assisted or nursing facilities and the staff who care for them. It is heartbreaking to think of individuals who cannot be with their families and cannot understand the separation. It is for my dad, everyone we have lost, and those living with the disease that I walk.
Currently, more than 5 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 14 million by 2050. We cannot sit by while this disease takes hold of our family and friends. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please consider supporting me in this important fight, in honor of my dad, who lost his life way too early. Any amount helps to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
Thank you for standing with me in the fight against Alzheimer's!
