As some of you know, my family has been dramatically affected by dementia. My mother, Leah, has been experiencing a symptomatic progression for years. We are getting into some difficult challenges not only from the disease, but a limitation of resources and structure due to COVID-19. We had established a solid routine with a local center where activities, a social outlet, and guidance for the cognitive decline were well in place. All of that changed in March of 2020 with the start of the pandemic.
This year, I am participating in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. This journey of watching a loved one's decline can make caregivers feel nearly helpless. I am taking that pain, focusing it into quill, and inviting our community to share in making a difference. I have started a team and wish for you to be a part of The Cooperative Society. I know a financial contribution is difficult for some in our current state of heightened unemployment, but you can still make a difference. Join the team, walk in solidarity, and help us to reach our goal.
Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease. Please make a monetary donation or volunteer to advance the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
