Sadly on March 28 my husband lost his battle with the disease. So in 2020, I am walking to honor his memory. There are so many with this disease and they all progress through the phases differently. My decision to place Steve in Memory Care was heartbreaking and still fills me with sadness. When Covid-19 forced the Memory Care unit into locked down, I felt in my heart that Steve would not survive the isolation and with in two weeks he was gone. I was grateful that I was able to spend the last hours of his life by his bedside even though he was in a coma.

Currently over 5 million Americans have the disease, and the number is expected to grow to as many as 16 million by 2050. It is imperative that we find a way to end this disease.
