The October 14 Asheville Walk is coming up right after what I hope will be a lovely summer. Before then, I'm asking that you please help the Alz Assn work to End Alzheimer's through a donation to this site.
As you probably heard last year, my dear brother has Alzheimer's. I'm proud to say he has joined a blind study at Johns-Hopkins to determine if a deep brain stimulation device will be helpful in slowing Alzheimer's progression. In the meantime, there is new joy in the house as he and my sister-in-law are now grandparents - thus this picture. I am honoring him and too many others of my family members through the ages with my volunteer work with the Alzheimer's Assn, and I hope you will support this effort as well.
People ask - did they forget your name? - If only it were that simple! Dementia is a syndrome in which there is progressive deterioration in cognitive function beyond what might be expected in normal aging. Check out "Know the 10 Signs" on the Alz.org site to see the difference. Alzheimer's affects memory, thinking, orientation, calculation, comprehension, learning capacity, and judgment.
Thank you for helping to #ENDALZ, from me, my family and others who are affected or care about someone who is.
