I walk in honor of my Father, my dad, my daddy.
Growing up, he was my hero , before the age of 55 he developed early onset dementia.I was his only child and definitely “ a daddy’s girl”.I done the best I could to care for him .During this time he was also diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and was told he would be in a wheelchair writhing 5 years….and he was.
Not only was he losing his memory and the ability to function daily on his own, but he also lost his mobility.
Some call this disease “ The Long Goodbye” and for good reason. When your loved one is diagnosed , the grieving begins then. You grieve for what was, what is, and what will be as the days go by. Alzheimer’s accounts for 60-80% of all dementia cases and 1 in 10 seniors over the age of 65, have Alzheimer’s.
Help me and many others raise funds to find a cure a raise awareness for this disease. IT IS NOT GOING AWAY!
