My family and I are happy to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer's again this year to honor my Dad, Hal Sproul. My Dad loved a good time, and he worked hard so we could have those good times. He had a contagious laugh that filled a room. He had piercing blue eyes that were unforgettable. He never met a stranger and had a knack for making everyone in the room feel special. As most of you know, my Dad passed away from this terrible disease in February 2020. We walk to remember him and that for which he stood. He was a man of faith, determination, strength, and perseverance. We are walking to bring awareness and raise funds for research, hoping the cure will be discovered in our lifetime.
Dad was often quick to remind me of a life lesson. It began when I was a little girl. I would see something that I just had to have and make a comment on how it's free! I thought that would appeal to my Dad as he was frugal, indeed. My Dad would raise his finger and proclaim, "Nothing. Ab-solute-ly Nothing, Jennifer. In. This. World. Is. Free. Did you hear me? Nothing, absolutely nothing, in this world is free." How true that is; how devastatingly true it is. No, Dad it isn't. He paid dearly, but would be honored that his sacrifice would not be in vain.
My Dad was happy to participate in any study/research opportunity so that others could learn from his experiences. Likewise, our family is willing to share our experiences and shed hope to the ones who still suffer, the patient and/or caregiver. Each one of us had a unique experience with my Dad. He loved his family fiercely and did everything in his power to protect us.
Join us at this year's Walk to End Alzheimer's at Snow Hinton Park, October 16th 2022. Registration begins at 1:00PM with the Ceremony and Walk at 2:00PM. We will have on our smiles as we remember the fun guy he was- one who loved playing practical jokes and spending time with his family.
Alzheimer’s isn’t stopping, and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s®, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease — funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association® to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research. If you are able, please make a donation, and together we can end Alzheimer's!
Thank you for your time and support!
