It has been such a gift to serve as CEO of the Alzheimer's Association, Western Carolina Chapter for the past ten and a half years! I continue to be reminded by my own personal encounters how very real and widespread this disease is as very few of my friends, family, colleagues and acquaintances haven't been impacted by Alzheimer's disease.
This year, I'm again dedicating my walk efforts to the memory of my Dad who was my biggest champion in life (see the picture where he remotely participated in walk while recovering from hip replacement a few years ago). We lost him in November, 2018 and I certainly miss his presence as we head into walk season!
I have had the privilege to get to know many stories of those impacted by the Association and the great work we're doing on all fronts - care and support, research, public policy and advocacy and raising awareness.
I'm walking to help reclaim the future for millions. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's®, I'm committed to raising awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s research, care and support.
Currently, nearly 7 million Americans have Alzheimer's and that number is expected to grow to as many as 13 million by 2050. Our future is at risk unless we can find a way to change the course of this disease.
I need your support to do my part! Please make a donation to help the Alzheimer's Association advance research into methods of treatment, prevention and, ultimately, a cure for Alzheimer's. For the millions already affected by the disease, the Association offers care, education, support and resources in communities nationwide.
Thank you for joining the movement! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you.
