Why am I walking again this year?
It has been over a year since my mother died, fighting Alzheimer's Disease, and I still miss her every day. I am walking to support the Alzheimer's Association mission and to remember her and honor my Mothers life.
By walking in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, I’m raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease - funds that allow the Alzheimer’s Association to provide care and support while accelerating critical research.
My mother watched her mother go through it, and she was determined not to let it happen to her. My mother gave it her all until the very end. One way my Mother fought back was by participating in a dementia research group at the Sanders-Brown Center on Aging of the University of Kentucky. (https://medicine.uky.edu/centers/sbcoa). My mother was part of the research group for 25 years (beginning when her mother was diagnosed). My mother benefited from research like programs the Alzheimer’s Association supports, allowing her to live a longer, better life than her mother.
I appreciate any donation of support again this year. Thank You, Joseph
