Currently, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and over 11 million family members and friends provide unpaid care. We are fortunate to live in a city where $2.3 million in groundbreaking research is being conducted at the University of Pittsburgh, bringing us one step closer to a cure.
I am walking in the 2025 Pittsburgh Walk to End Alzheimer's because Alzheimer’s has profoundly impacted my life since I was just ten years old. This devastating disease has taken my uncle and three of my grandparents. In 2018, it struck even closer to home when my mother-in-law, Nancy, was diagnosed with early onset dementia at just 58. This diagnosis forced our family to confront the harsh realities of Alzheimer’s, culminating in the heart-wrenching decision to place her in a care home last November.
My dream is for my son to grow up in a world where Alzheimer’s is no longer a concern. Together, we can make that dream a reality.
You can play a vital role in this fight by donating (even $1 makes a difference!) or by joining our team for the walk on October 18th! Marsh has also generously agreed to match our team donation up to $1,000, so every dollar counts! Your support—whether through a donation or simply your presence—will help raise awareness and fund critical research that can change lives.
Let’s come together to make a meaningful impact in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all forms of dementia. Thank you for your generosity and support!
