My father was a World War II Veteran. He was a remarkable man who lived 96 years on this earth and witnessed many changes. He overcame sicknesses and disabilities, and he became my hero at a very early age. He was a member of that "Greatest Generation", and he lived up to it in every way.

     He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in his later years, and this became the battle of his lifetime. We had to lay Daddy to rest in 2019. He received a 3 Volley Rifle Fire to signify that a veteran had died and had been brought home. Taps was then played to symbolize that it was now time to rest. Thankfully, my Dad is resting peacefully - he has left his Alzheimer's behind, and he has gone home!

     In his memory, I work as a volunteer to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association to, hopefully, one day find a first survivor of this terrible disease. I want to invite you to join me in the Walk To End Alzheimer's in Mount Airy this September 20, 2025 at Riverside Park. 

     We must all work together to find a cure! The end of Alzheimer's disease starts with you. The Walk To End Alzheimer's can be everywhere this year. Alzheimer's has not stopped because we have a new crisis in our world, so we must not either! Please join me as we search to find the first survivor.
