Alzheimer's isn't stopping us from living our best life, nor are we allowing it to. By taking part in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, I am raising funds and awareness to advance the fight against this disease that affects my family. My husband, Wendell, was diagnosed with a rare form of Alzheimer's called Early-Onset, which manifests in one's 40's or 50's. We started noticing subtle signs of the disease when he turned 50, but it wasn't until five years later when friends and family noticed changes in his speech and personality, that we sought testing. He was officially diagnosed just after his 57th birthday, a day that forever changed our lives. However, we were determined not to let it ruin our "golden years" and opted to pursue the latest Alzheimer's treatments and make lifestyle changes.
Your donations will allow the Alzheimer's Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research. I understand firsthand the importance of the Alzheimer's Association's support now that I am a caregiver. We must continue to make breakthroughs in early detection so that our children have a fighting chance against developing this life-altering disease.
Families like ours are facing Alzheimer's at an alarming rate and need us now more than ever. With your help, we can be there for them.
Please consider donating or registering as a participant in our Sound Fitness Alzheimer's Avengers walk team or donating to my End Alz Walk page so I can carry you in my heart! Sound Fitness, our local gym, and my fit family greatly influence Wendell's daily routine and treatment.
From the bottom of our hearts, our entire family thank you for supporting Wendell and this cause. Together, we can beat Alzheimer's disease. In appreciation,
Samantha
