My dad, Charles Goff, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and passed away in 2010. My 2nd mom, Becky, quit her job to take care of him. When that got too much, we had to put him in a nursing facility. He would be so drugged up, he'd sleep all day or if we asked them to hold those medications, he would wander into other patient's rooms. He had a few trips to the ER to get stitches from getting hit by scared, confused, other dementia patients. This disease is not only bad on the patient, but wears down the family members trying to care for them.
Alzheimer's isn't stopping and neither are we. By participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's, I'm raising awareness and funds to advance the fight against this disease - funds that allow the Alzheimer's Association to provide 24/7 care and support while accelerating critical research.
Families facing Alzheimer's and all other dementia need us - and with your help, we can be there for them. Please make a donation or register as a participant and start your own fundraising efforts. Together, we can end Alzheimer's disease.
Thank you for your support!
