<p>My name is Lois. I was named after my Grandmother, Lois Hancock. My Grandma passed away in 2009 after a 10 year battle with "text book" Alzheimer's. The same year she passed away my mother, Lee Rhoades, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Within just 4 years, my 56 year old mother passed away from an "unusual and aggressive" case of Alzheimer's. My Aunt Sabrina (Lee's sister) has also recently passed away due to this disease. I walk for all the women in my life, past and present. I want to raise awareness to the fact that this disease does not just affect the elderly. Men and women of all ages battles Alzheimer's, in all different stages.

I raise money to help support the Alzheimer's Association in hopes to help find a cure one day. I pray to find a cure before it can attack my children and/or future grandchildren. My reasons for walking are very near and dear to my heart, as I'm sure yours are as well. The three amazing women I spoke of at the start of this were lovingly known as G-ma and Great G-ma and Aunt Brina. This is why my walk team's name is TEAM G-MA. Together we can make a difference.
