At Senior Helpers of Huntsville, we are committed to supporting those affected by dementia and Alzheimer’s while advocating for a cure. Our owner, Mary, has a deeply personal connection to this mission. She has faced the challenges of this disease alongside her parents.
In 2015, Mary’s father suffered a stroke that led to vascular dementia and transient ischemic attacks (TIAs). During these episodes, Mary was a constant source of reassurance, guiding him through each challenge with unwavering support.
When Mary’s mother began showing signs of memory loss after relocating to Huntsville, Mary recognized her struggle to manage daily tasks. An excellent homekeeper, her mother found it difficult to differentiate between the washer and dryer. To empower her mother and help her maintain independence, Mary labeled the machines, allowing her to feel more confident in her abilities.
After the loss of his wife, Mary’s father made it his mission to honor her memory by carrying her photo during each Alzheimer’s walk. His determination to remember her every day inspires us all. We invite you to join us this year as we pay tribute to those we’ve had the privilege to know and support, as well as those currently battling this disease. Together, we can make a difference.
Currently, more than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's and over 11 million family and friends provide their unpaid care. We need your help to end this devastating disease. You can make an impact with a donation or even joining our team. Your kindness and generosity truly make a difference in the fight against Alzheimer’s and all other dementia. Thank you for your support!
